2 Day Online Retreat with Zen Master Soeng Hyang

We are grateful to have Zen Master Soeng Hyang lead a 2 day Yong Maeng Jong Jin retreat. Yong Maeng Jong Jin retreats are held in silence. The schedule each day consists of several hours of Zen practice (bowing, chanting, sitting and walking), Dharma talks and kong an interviews are also given by Zen Master Soeng Hyang.

Zen Master Soeng Hyang (Barbara Rhodes) is the School Zen Master of the Kwan Um School of Zen. She received dharma transmission from Zen Master Seung Sahn on October 10, 1992. She was one of Zen Master Seung Sahn’s first American students and studied with him beginning in 1972. She was given inka in 1977. She helped found Providence Zen Center, and lived there for seventeen years, serving in a number of administrative capacitie

Minimum participation is 24 hours

$25 Members, Seniors, and Full-time Students

$15 Dharma Teachers and Dharma-Teachers-in-Training

After payment and form are received you will be sent the Zoom link the Friday before the retreat.

Saturday:

9:00 am to 9:30 am     Orientation for new people
9:30 am  to 12 noon     Zen Master Soeng Hyang’s Introductory Talk followed by 4 sittings
1:30 pm to 4 pm           4  30 minute sittings
6:30 pm to 8:30 pm     Special Chanting;  English Heart Sutra;  Great Dharani; 2  30 minute sittings; 4  Great Vows

Sunday –

6:00 am to 6:25 am       108 Prostrations followed by a 10 minute break
6:25 am to 7:00 am       Morning Bell Chant;  English Heart Sutra; Great Dharani;  5 minute break
7:00 am to 8:00 am       2  25 minute sittings

9:25 am to 10:25 am     2  25 minute sittings followed by a 5 minute break
10:25 am to 11:30 am   Intro. Dharma Talk by Kwan Haeng Sunim then Q&A by Zen Master Soeng Hyang

1:30 pm to 3:20 pm       3  30 minute sittings
3:20 pm to 3:30 pm       English Heart Sutra;  Great Dharani;  4 Great Vows
3:30 pm to 4:00 pm       Circle Talk
